Differences.

I thought everything happened much quicker in Homicide than in Cops. In Homicide a gun fight broke out right away, while in Cops they follow the man with the knife for a good 2 minutes before they shot him. This is obviously becuase it makes for more exciting television to have a gun fight rather than the man with the knife surrendering and dropping his knife.
